Prior to calls make sure you are gathering the items listed below
labeled Scorecard info. Also, confirm the timeline for your proposal
response is acceptable. Let them know if they want an accurate estimate
we ask that they fill out our project planner. As an incentive let them
know we can email back their answers so they can get apples to apples
quotes from all the vendors they are working with. It’s critical we are
working from the same set of data. Use this language verbatim. It works
for us 90% of the time.
- Sole proprietor, LLC, Startup, Company? (experience with doing a
website project from start to finish)
- What is the position of the contact person?
- Who are the DMs?
- Do they have an existing website?
- Funding (Company has budgeted, Investors, Self-Funded)?
- Budget Amount ( help by providing range ($4k-$6k for basic
website/redesign or $7.5k-$15l for ecommerce) Gauge their response.
This will tell you whether they are a good potential client.
- Timeline?
- Preferred Technology (CMS) Will it integrate with any other back-end
systems (ERP/CRM) or possible links to other partner sites?
- What is their marketing strategy (will it require SEO)?
- Hosting?
- eCommerce ? Basic or complex? Dig/Ask questions
- Design Work ( do they have a logo already?, have they done any
wireframes?)
