Clarity Ventures recognizes that some employees may need or want to hold additional jobs outside their employment with the company. The company would like to set a clear set of expectations for disclosure and approval of employees’ employment or activities that might otherwise raise concerns about conflicts of interest or conflicts of commitment.
Employees are permitted to engage in outside work or hold other jobs if their outside employment will not create a real or perceived conflict of interest or commitment. However, outside employment will not be considered an excuse for poor job performance, absenteeism, tardiness, or leaving early.
The work towards outside employment must be performed outside of Clarity core work hours and must not interfere with the performance of the employee’s responsibilities.
All employees who need or want to hold outside employment must submit a written request for approval to the CEO. Each employee’s request for approval of outside employment will be reviewed and decided on its own merits, considering such factors such as the type of work to be done, the type of business, and the duration of employment.
If the outside employment negatively impacts an employee’s performance, the CEO may withdraw approval for that outside employment. The employee will be notified if approval is withdrawn.
If an employee fails to obtain prior approval for outside employment, or engages in outside employment when approval has been denied, normal disciplinary action may be taken.
