DevOPS IT System Routine checks
- Configure and Verify backups: After building servers they are added to our Backup jobs for disaster recovery
Verify Daily backup jobs to confirm successful completion
- Update OS: Patch management in order to assure server OS is up to date and free
from security vulnerabilities
- Account Management / passwords: confirm that accounts with access to the servers are needed and remove any not needed along with securing the accounts to follow security standard practices.
- Check remote management tools: Assure that remote management is accessible and configured as needed.
- Check server logs regularly for any potential issues or flags
- Check system security for any antivirus or tampering threads
- Hardware errors checked. This can be at the VM or BareMetal level
- Server cleaning, for disk space, old storage files not needed to maintain backups at a manageable size
- Update Control Panel systems and apps from unused or unneeded system apps
- Configure Server monitoring and alerting for:
- Proactive clean and inspect hardware
- Comprehensive disaster recovery test to confirm backups are reliable
- Verify network utilization
- Antivirus configuration and updates to confirm that schedule update and clean up jobs are completing as configured
- Check application updates aside from OS to make sure that apps remain at compatibility state
- IIS site configuration and updates for recovery, troubleshooting and app pools maintenances as needed
